Dr. Caryn LaBuda is a Board Certified Optometrist with a distinguished background in clinical care, research, and education. She specializes in primary and medical eye care, ocular disease management, and advanced diagnostic technology, and is passionate about delivering personalized, compassionate care to every patient.

A graduate of the University of Notre Dame, Dr. LaBuda earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Missouri-St. Louis, where she graduated Valedictorian and received multiple honors for clinical excellence, leadership, and academic achievement. She went on to complete an optometric residency at the Marion VA Medical Center, further strengthening her expertise in complex ocular disease management.

Dr. LaBuda has pursue advanced graduate education with multiple master’s degrees, including Healthcare Systems Engineering from Johns Hopkins University, Pharmacology & Toxicology from Michigan State University, an MBA with a concentration in Healthcare Management from Our Lady of the Lake University, and Healthcare Informatics from Purdue Global. Her commitment to continuous learning reflects her dedication to improving both patient outcomes and the future of eye care.

Her previous clinical work was performed at Brenart Eye Clinic in Yorkville, IL. She also was an Assistant Professor at Midwestern University’s Chicago College of Optometry, where she saw patients and directed and taught courses in ocular anatomy, neuroanatomy, retina, and clinical optometry. She is also an accomplished researcher, with publications in peer-reviewed ophthalmology journals and presentations at national conferences on topics ranging from glaucoma and diabetic eye disease to choroidal and vascular conditions.

Dr. LaBuda holds board certifications from the American Board of Medical Optometry (ABCMO) and the American Board of Optometry (ABO). She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and is also a Diplomate in the Comprehensive Eye Care Section of the Academy. She has previously served as an Illinois Representative for the American Board of Optometry and remains active in professional societies, peer review, and community service, including volunteer work with Remote Area Medical (RAM).

Fluent in both English and Spanish, Dr. LaBuda is dedicated to making patients feel comfortable, informed, and cared for. She is known for her patient first philosophy, combining cutting-edge knowledge with a genuine commitment to treating every individual as if they were family.
